This is a Google Doc that goes through each step of an argumentative essay. Not only does it go through each paragraph (introduction, three body paragraphs, counterclaim and conclusion), but included is each individual sentence type for those paragraphs. For example, in the introduction is goes over the hook, bridge/ background information, and the thesis.
 
For each body paragraph, it follows closely the steps of R.A.C.E. (restate, answer, cite text evidence, and explain). This is an easy format to teach students on how to write a more formal paragraph, using text evidence. It also makes an easy transition for students to then apply that format to body paragraphs. However, students do not need to know R.A.C.E. in order to use this template.
 
This packet also includes items that will help students go through the entire writing process.

This resource is one that I created for my 7th graders, and I will never use another template again! Writing is one of the hardest skills/ content to teach, and this template made it a whole lot easier. It is easy for students to understand and I have witnessed how much it really does help their writing! I hope you and your students enjoy using this essay template!
